Casino Installs 2.5 MW SunPower Solar Panels on La Réunion

SunPower’s proven high-efficiency technology delivers the highest energy density in space-constrained areas. This permits us to maximise the amount of clean, renewable solar power that will be produced at our facilities, maximising economic and environmental benefits.”

– Philippe Houins, Chief Operations Officer, GreenYellow

The Casino Group is one of the world’s leading food retailers, with nearly 11,000 stores worldwide. Committed to reducing its ecological footprint, Casino is taking measures such as installing energy efficient refrigeration systems, rethinking the impact of goods transport and reducing energy consumption by installing solar power systems.

In 2007, the Casino Group founded GreenYellow, a wholly-owned subsidiary dedicated to developing photovoltaic systems, aiming to become the leader in BIPV plant energy in France.

The 2.5 MW PV system on the Jumbo Store Savannah on La Réunion, is one of the largest solar installations on a Casino facility to date. To maximise energy production, SunPowerTM high efficiency solar panels were installed on both roof and parking structures.
