Frequently asked questions about solar
How do solar systems work?
A photovoltaic (PV) solar system is comprised of solar panels, racks for placing the panels on your roof, electrical wiring and an inverter. From sunrise to sunset, the solar panels generate electricity (DC) which is sent to an inverter. The inverter converts the DC electricity into alternating current (AC), which is type of electricity required for household use. The AC power is delivered directly to your home’s main electrical service panel for use by you and your family.
How does shade affect the solar system’s performance?
Shading could be a problem as solar operates at optimal output only when the system is capturing direct sunlight. Let us evaluate your particular situation and provide some options for you.
How much will I save with a solar energy system?
Your energy use and the size of your solar energy system will determine your actual savings amount.
Are SunPower® solar panels better?
Not all solar systems are created equal. Of all solar panels on the market, SunPower panels convert more sunlight into electricity. This means our solar panels generate more power than conventional panels1 within the same amount of space and you’ll need fewer solar panels to produce the energy you need. You can maximise your available roof space to choose the best, unobstructed location for electricity production. You'll save more money on electricity costs over time with SunPower.
